It makes me a little sad to post this photo, but progress always brings change. I will follow up with the “after” photo as soon as the project is completed.
I am working on two books that I hope to finish by October. One is “Brick by Brick” and documents the history of the downtown buildings and a few residences. I would like to make a request in connection with this. If you have any old maps of the town or photos of buildings please share them. You can email copies to me, make copies and mail them (P.O. Box 696, Caddo, OK 74729), leave copies at Craighead’s or make and leave copies at the Bryan County Genealogy Library in Calera. The library has two copiers and one makes excellent paper copies of photos. If you have a map, you can have copies made at Durant Copy Center. They can make copies up to three feet wide for a nominal fee. We are running out of time to collect and distribute the history of Caddo! Each year there are major changes in families and photos are lost.
I am also working on “Far-Sighted Men and Fair-Haired Ladies”, the third in the founding families series. It includes, but is not limited to the Arnold & Attaway, Beck, Boone, Boydstun, Brewer, Cochran, Ellis, Folsom, Guthrie, Holm-Hauer-Bloom, Leeper-Rice-Chiles, Leflore, Locke, Lyle, Markham, Pitchlyn, Rappolee, Semple, Ward, and Wood families. If you have anything to contribute please let me know. I love family stories and little details that I can’t find in the standard archives.
Also, if I agreed to do any research for you and have failed to contact you, please remind me. If I did some research for you in the past and you want a “follow up”, or you have a new request, ask now. Summer is the best time for me to be at the library or here on the computer for extended periods. I have about four weeks left before I will once again be limited by other priorities. So…if you need something, contact me soon!
Remember that my other books are available from the Bryan County Genealogy Library and at Craighead’s in Caddo. If you have not been to Craighead’s in a while it is definitely time to return!
