I am always amazed by how big the old Corn Carnival celebrations were and how many visitors were attracted to Caddo during the three-day events. Of course they didn’t have the fierce competition for time and money that current event planners face!

Caddo Corn Carnival Will be a Good One
Usual attractions will be had at Ninth Annual Corn Carnival
Advertising for the Caddo Corn Carnival is being distributed now to all the country round about. The announcement of the date is sufficient for the people already know what the Carnival is and they know it is the big entertainment of the year. They know that Caddo doesn’t do anything by halves.
Some new features have been added this year, among them being the greeting to the Selected Solider Boys who have all been invited to be guests of the Carnival Friday when a dinner served by the Red Cross ladies will be tendered the boys free. There also will be patriotic speaking. The name of the speaker cannot yet be announced, but there will be one to do honor to the occasion.
A parade Friday is also contemplated, though it will not be in line with those previously had. Instead of gorgeous floats, it will consist of the soldier boys, the band, the Red Cross, and other things of a more serious nature. It will be well worth coming miles to see.
Prizes will be offered for the best corn and cotton. This country this year has the best cotton and corn prospect it ever had and these exhibits are expected to be the best ever shown here. There will also be cooking and canning demonstrations during the Carnival. The meeting of all county agricultural agents in this district will be held also during the Carnival. The management has not neglected the farmer and his needs, but is putting on something that will be of lasting value to him.
The roping contest will be put on as an extra attraction and will of course be charged for. Other things are free. This roping will be participated in by the best ropers in the world and is an entertainment that never fails to attract a large crowd.
Immediately after the roping contest each afternoon there is a baseball game between Caddo and a visiting team. It is not as yet known with whom the games will be, perhaps Atoka or Durant.
An exhibition of fireworks is announced for one night. This will be free to all and will be worth coming many miles to see. While people will be thinking about war some stirring scenes will be depicted.
