Spelling Contest
Friday afternoon at the high school building a spelling contest was held between the junior high students of Caddo and Midway, those five having the highest grades to enter the contest to be held at Durant.
Three hundred and seventy words were given. Montie Brown of Midway won first place, missing only nineteen words. Second place went to Mary Adleine McGraw, who missed twenty-four words. Sam Moore and Mary Adeline Boland tied for third place, each missing thirty words. Fifth place was won by a Midway student.
Contests of this sort are very beneficial. Their importance cannot be stressed too much. To succeed in any scholarly endeavor one must be able to spell correctly. These students are to be commended for the very evident time and study that they have given this subject.
