Dr. Lynch Not Guilty
After one of the hardest fought legal battles waged in Choctaw County, Dr. Lynch was declared not guilty by the jury. Dr. Lynch was charged with murder, alleged by the state that he killed E. R. Major and his brother* at Boswell on the night of March 23.
Dr. Lynch proved self-defense, the testimony showing the two Majors had been threatening the doctor for several months. Over a year before this time E. R. Majors had sued Dr. Lynch for $30,000 for the alienation of his wife’s affections.
The case was watched with much interest by Durantites, who knew all the parties involved in the tragedy.
*There is a notation in at the end of an earlier article that I apparently overlooked. It reads, “Walter Majors died in a hospital at Sherman Tuesday.)
