This Item isn’t strictly about Caddo, but it is always helpful when researching our area, to know about name changes. Bryan County was once Blue County. Calera was Sterrett. And Caney was Preston City.

Caney, I. T. May 6, 1902- I saw an article in the Indian Citizen of last week from this place written by someone who signs himself “Sticker”. The writer states in said article the name of Preston City was not voted upon. The writer failed to state that the City was added during the same few minutes of business and the name of Preston City was adopted. A few days later we find Preston City Co-operative Store established here. We are proud of our little town’s name, Preston City, and feel assured the department will approve of the change. We are proud because it takes its name from one who has done so much for this place. Look at the town now and compare it with a few months ago. What a change! J. C. Cobb
