Something a little different today. Many early court records are available at the genealogy library.

Probate Records
The estate of Sarah J. Lawrence, deceased (November, 1922) (I’ve left out some of the “legal” paragraphs which simply state that she had a will, Frank is petitioning to be executor, a hearing is requested, etc.)
List of property and probable value provided by petitioner Frank T. Lawrence:
About 150 acres of farm land situated south and near the town of Caddo in Bryan county Oklahoma of the probable value of $6,000.
One house and lot in the town of Caddo in said county and state of the probable value of $1,000.
Some small amounts of money in different banks, the exact amount of which is to your petitioner unknown at this time.
Heirs:
Frank T. Lawrence, age 49, Caddo, Oklahoma
Joseph R. Lawrence, 47, Atoka, Oklahoma
Mannie M. Manning, 41, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma
Mamie E. Nicholson, 44, Dallas, Texas
Mary A. Malone, nee Thurmond, 24, Sherman, Texas
Later a “true and correct” inventory was provided to the court during the hearing.
I have skipped the nine lines of property description giving each quarter and section.
165 acres of land more or less in Bryan County State of Oklahoma and is of the value of $40.00 per acres, a total of $6,600.00.
Lot 9 in block 24 of the town of Caddo in said county and of the value of $1,000.00.
Money belonging to deceased at the time of her death- $750 in Merchants and Planters National Bank in Sherman, Texas and $90 in Caddo National Bank at Caddo, Oklahoma.
Total appraised value of estate $8,440.00.
