Pie Supper
The pie supper given last Friday night by the American Legion was largely attended.
It was held downtown on Buffalo street. More than thirty pies were offered for sale and nearly $80 was netted as a result of the selling.
A.N. Leecraft and Dr. J. B. Smith, candidates for the legislature, were new announcements.
Each candidate, before he began his talk, sold a pie at auction. This gave spice and variety to the entertainment. Those who spoke were: Guy A. Crossett, J. B. Smith, A. N. Leecraft, E. B. White, J. H. Lipscomb, Ruel Taylor, Wes Thompson, Ben Risner, Griff Murray, Frank Buford, Tobe Hughes, Harry Neely, John H. Mason, E. P. Goad, A. A. McReynolds, J. A. Shirley, Stanley Williams, Lonnie Rice, E. E. Frazier, J. D. Bayless, and Shearl Shofner.
Everything passed off nicely and the candidates said that this was the best arranged gathering they had attended this year.
Bill Noland was here from Cade Monday and said there would be a pie supper and candidate rally at Cade Friday night, June 29th, to which everyone was cordially invited.
