Shower is Given to Mrs. Pat Hardy
by Ladies Tuesday Nite
Mesdames A. S. Eggner, W. R. Taylor, Joe McKinnis, R. L. Pace, W. L. Guthrie, Fred Washington, and L. M. Wood were hostesses Tuesday night at the Annex to a post nuptial shower given to Mrs. Pat Hardy, a bride of March sixth.
Some sixty guests assembled in the Annex, each bringing gifts suitable for a bride of tender years.
A short program was had: Charleen and Christine Robinson gave a song and Indian dance with pretty costumes with Jean Cochran at the piano.
Olna Ruth and Verlee Watson in very sweet voices gave a song each with Mrs. Henninger at the piano.
Mrs. Clovis Wood gave the solo ‘I Dream of You”, and as an encore, “Blue Hawaii”.
Tulips were the decorations of the room. After a contest the bride discovered the gifts behind a screen.
Surprise and joy were her mingled feelings as she and her husband in frantic ecstasy opened the varied and beautiful gifts which also had the quality of practicality and utility. A rolling pin was beside the lamp, a skillet joined hands with a bedspread, a blanket matched a coffee urn, a rug was beside a curtain, dishes and silverware vied with jars and jams.
The young newlyweds tried to express in words their appreciation, but experienced the fact that there are some feelings that words cannot adequately convey.
