Boy Breaks Leg by Hopping Cultivator
Last Thursday Jasper Ray Drake, seven years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vyron Drake, received a broken leg while going from the grammar school to his home. He, with other children, had gotten off the sidewalk and was playing in the street. A farm wagon, which had a cultivator tied behind it, came along and Jasper climbed upon the seat of the plow. When he attempted to climb from the seat his foot caught in the wheel of the cultivator and his leg bone was broken completely in two just below the knee.
According to witnesses the farmer, whose name we did not learn, was in no way to blame for the accident. He was driving fiery mules and he did well in keeping them from dragging the child to death.
The screams for the boy brought assistance and he was hurried to town in an automobile. First aid was given the injured limb and the child ws taken to the hospital. Reports are to the effect that he is improving.
