Overtime Workers
L.W. Hughes, our efficient affable court clerk reports that his office issued 31 marriage licenses Saturday and Sunday; 21 being issued after hours.
Love-lorn youth are like that; they know nothing about office hours; when they want to wed they want to wed and that settles it- and if a county has a court clerk who is imbued with the idea of giving service to the people, like L. W. Hughes, that county will get the business.
This extra overtime work put $63 in the county treasury and not a cent more in Tobe Hughes pocket. It might have gone to another county.
March is one of the lightest marriage months of the year, notwithstanding a young man’s fancy is said to lightly turn to thoughts of love.
