Schools Will Begin at 10a.m. Under New Time Monday
Caddo schools will begin at 10a.m. each morning beginning Monday, Feb. 9, and close at 5p.m. under the new daylight saving time which goes into effect on that date.
Supt. McKinnis says this is to be the same time schedule as observed now, but will be 1 hour later according to the new time. He said it would be difficult for the children to meet the buses at an earlier hour.
The post office and bank are to open at the regular hour on new time, which really is an hour earlier according to sun time. But employees will have an hour more of time after noon to do chores or to have for recreation.
In a few days we will get used to the new time and all will be OK.
School Enrollment 39 Short of Last Year: Many Have Moved Away
After a close checkup this school district has but 410 enrolled as school age children. Last year the census gave us 449, a net loss of 39 from last year.
The loss is accounted for by so many being gone into the army and into war work, taking their families with them. The school attendance is larger than this, but that is because of transfer of students into our district.
Except for farming there is not a great deal of work going on around Caddo and people have had to move away to get a living.
