Caddo Man Dies from Exposure
St. Louis, Mo. Jan. 24- After walking the entire distance from Indianapolis to St. Louis with his 7-year-old son, William Gish, 57 years old, of Caddo, Okla. died from pneumonia Saturday in the city hospital here. He caught cold from his cross-country tramp having been exposed to the snow storms and blizzard-like weather which gripped the Middle West during the past two weeks.
Gish departed with his son from Caddo last November, intent to walking to Indianapolis. His wife had died and he intended to place his son in the care of a sister in the Indiana capitol.
After several weeks he reached St. Louis where he appealed to a charitable organization for transportation to Indianapolis. It was furnished. When he located his sister he discovered that she was in poverty, too poor to care for his son.
He and the boy then turned back. The orphan is in an institution here and wants someone to adopt him.
