My mother kept some old newspapers and I have just recently been going through some of them. I often have to scan an issue a couple of times to determine why she kept it. The February 9, 1940 paper contains a tiny obituary on the last page. It’s for her brother Oscar Calvin. He died of mastoiditis. And although the paper says he was buried at Caddo, his grave is actually at Folsom Cemetery, which is located between Caddo and Caney.

Springer Child Dies in Oklahoma City Hospital
Funeral Wednesday
O. C., the 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Springer, died at Oklahoma City Tuesday and was buried in Caddo Cemetery Wednesday, the funeral being held at 2pm at the Church of Christ in Caddo.
The little fellow had been on the sick list a long time and had lately been taken to the hospital for treatment, but to no avail; he was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Banta.
It's always sad to read these stories and see a child's grave, but those toys beside the marker really touched my heart. Thanks for sharing this bit of your family's history.
