Husband Shoots Wife
V. E. Sampson, mail carrier of Coleman, 20 miles north, and his wife, are dead as the result of a family quarrel shortly after noon Monday. Louis Cochran, brother of Mrs. Sampson, is in jail at Tishomingo on a murder charge.
According to reports here, Sampson and his wife had been separated since Saturday, Mrs. Sampson living at the home of her mother, Mrs. Cochran, three miles west of Coleman. Monday Sampson went to the Cochran home and as his wife came out of the house to go to a well he shot her three times, killing her instantly.
Mrs. Cochran rushed into the yard to help her daughter and Louis Cochran then shot Sampson, killing him. Both bodies were found in the yard by officers from the sheriff’s office.
Sampson was 30 years old and his wife was 28. They leave a child 4 years old.
