Atoka County Boy is Accidentally Shot
Marion G. Hart, Atoka county youth is in a Durant hospital with an abdominal wound which resulted from the accidental discharge of a .38 caliber revolver in his hands Saturday night about three miles north of Kenefick. The bullet, though it penetrated his left side, may not have caused a serious wound, but he has been caused considerable suffering.
Hart said he and two other youths were returning from church and one of his companions asked to see the gun, which he handed to him. The other boy looked at it and handed it back then, and Hart twirled it on his finger and then started opt put it in his pocket when it was discharged.
He said his companions became frightened and ran away leaving him alone, and he was forced to lie in the road until Sunday morning when he was found and brought to Durant.
Note: Mr. Hart became a long-time resident of Caddo. He worked for the city. He was the person who reported the courthouse fire of 1956.
