The Caddo Herald
August 23, 1929
Editorial
Lots of good cows, bulls, calves, chickens and hogs will be shown at the Caddo Township Fair. People are realizing the value of the advertising their stock gets from exhibition. Then when you come to the Fair you find out who has the kind of stock you are looking for.
The Herald strongly believes in the value of the influence the churches exert in any community. With the several differences of doctrine we have no patience. No two people were created alike so why expect it in religion? But let’s be tolerant to the other fellow. There is no much good in all of them, why not wish them God speed?
Mr. Wood reports considerable interest in his Vocational Agriculture class extension work. He has two good classes now, and will visit other communities as soon as the people desire it. Furthermore he helps in hog vaccination and other farm aid when called upon. This sort of man is worth something to any community and we think Caddo is fortunate to get one who fits so well into the needs of the community.
Several farmers we know have utilized the Johnson grass for hay purposes and they have profited by it. There is a feed mill at hand so that mixed feeds may be ground at little cost.
Yes, The Herald leaves out lots of news. Some because it doesn’t look good in print, some because we were not told about it and some because we forgot it. Still others because we did not have room, or it came too late. We desire to have a good community newspaper, building the things worthwhile and trying to better the condition of those who live here.
It is the duty of every man to obey the law as he knows it. To the wise and informed there is greater responsibility. Dynamiting our streams for fish is indefensible. There is no excuse for that. Seining is not so bad, nor is grabbling. But dynamiting is inexcusable. It is premeditated. Dynamiting kills all fish within reach so that the hole is ruined. The men who dynamite get but few of the fish killed. Yes, there are degrees of law violation all right.
To Make Tour of Farms for Fair
Tuesday, August 27, a group of business men and boosters for the Caddo Township Fair will make a tour of surrounding country advertising the Fair and inspecting a number of projects of the Vocational Agriculture class of Caddo High School.
Everyone who will is invited to make this trip. The itinerary includes west of town to Ira Smith’s, then back south to Kimbrough’s then east to Robinson schoolhouse. Another may be arranged for another day to take in other territory. This trip will include Kenefick and the people of that thriving town are invited to enter wholeheartedly into the spirit of the Fair.
