Remains of Billy Dean McGrew Buried Friday
Funeral services were held in the Nazarene Church Friday at 3pm for Seaman Second Class Billy Dean McGrew who lost his life on Bougainville in 1943.
The Rev. B. P. Roberts, a former pastor, conducted the service assisted by Rev. Thomas J. Edmonds, present pastor. Pall bearers were his classmates in high school.
Billy Dean was born June 14, 1925; the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McGrew. He attended Caddo schools and enlisted in the Navy while a senior in high school.
He was killed in action Dec. 18, 1943 of Bougainville, fighting the Japanese.
He is survived by his parents, one brother Joe Charles, three sisters, Mrs. Verna Mae Kitchens, Miss Ida Sue, and Miss Bobbie Dale McGrew of Caddo.
