Notice of hearing Petition for Letters of Administration

State of Oklahoma, Bryan County S.S. in County Court

Notice by Publication

Notice is hereby given that on the 14^th day of June, A. d.  1928, E. K. Freeman filed in the County Court of the County of Bryan and State of Oklahoma, a petition praying for Letters of Administration to be issued to E. K. Freeman upon the estate of Solman P. Freeman, deceased, late of Bryan county and State of Oklahoma.

And pursuant to an order of said County Court, the 2^nd day of July, A. D. 1928, at the hour of 10 o’clock, A. M. of the said day, that being a day of the regular term, A. D. 1928, of said Court, has been appointed as the time for hearing said application, when and where any person interested may contest said petition by filing written opposition therein on the ground of incompetency of the applicant, or may assert his own rights to the appointment and pray that letters be issued to himself.

H. E. Nix and son Scottie were Armstrong visitors Sunday.

Fay Jean McGinnis visited Mildred Thornton Sunday afternoon.

We Are Assured of Water

When the contract was let for the building of the water system for the town of Caddo various and sundry complications arose and the work of construction was unavoidably delayed. It was originally agreed to have the system installed within ninety days from the date of letting the contract. The contract was originally awarded to Mr. E. E. Lumaden of Oklahoma City and Mr. Lumaden failed to make good. We do not know whose fault it was that Mr. Lumaden did not carry out his contract, but we do know that the matter hung on for about a year without anything much being done toward the completion of the system until Mr. Lumaden’s contract was taken over by the Southern Company, the company furnishing Mr. Lumaden’s bond. Now that the matter is under the direction of the Southern Surety Co. the work is being pushed to completion as fast as men can do the work. The Surety Company is losing no time in completing the contract and the people of Caddo appreciate their efforts for now we have some assurance that by the time the hot sultry days of the summer will have come there will be an ample supply of water in our water mains, and when we think of what we had to contend with last summer, we appreciate this fact all the more. In giving this contract to the Southern Surety people we are patronizing home industry; we feel that since this company is a product of Eastern Oklahoma and having extensive investments in and near Caddo, that it is indeed a home institution.

Quite a large crowd witnessed the ball game Saturday between Caddo and Armstrong Academy. It was an interesting performance and Caddo boys lost honestly by a score of 5 to 10. Where the games are properly conducted there is no better field sport than baseball.

Tomorrow evening about 5 o’clock a special train of 28 cars loaded with feed from the Purina Mills will pass though Caddo from St. Louis to Crowly, La.

At the home of the bride last Monday evening about 4 o’clock, Mr. Ed McGinnis and Miss Allie Russell were united in marriage, Rev. Maddox officiating. The affair was witnessed by only a few relatives and intimate friends and the happy couple left on the evening train for their future home at Shawnee, O.T.

The bride is a most loveable young lady, the daughter of A. M. Russell, and will make a most excellent helpmate; the groom is formerly of Ravia, and is an excellent young man, holding a responsible position in Shawnee now. The couple has the best wishes of numerous Caddo friends.

W. P. Booker has an adv. about (the) cane mill and advises and urges farmers to plant sugar cane. This is a paying industry and with the mill close at hand the syrup can be easily made and money saved. The more you diversify, the greater will be your profit and the less chance of an entire destruction of crops. Plant a few cane seed.

Rev. O. E. Taylor last night and Wednesday night delivered lectures on Temperance at the Baptist church. Fairly good attendance was had. He will lecture again at the Baptist church tonight. All are invited to attend and hear him. He handles his subject in a scientific and genteel manner, affording pleasure to all who hear him.

The Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian Church will give one of their excellent dinners at the Dunlap Roberts building east of the bank tomorrow. Twenty five cents will be charged. In the evening from 7:30 to 11 strawberries, cream and cake will be served, at 15 cents. Everyone is invited to attend.

Flowers Found Dead

These Flowers lived in Caddo about ten years ago, and conducted a lunch and hamburger stand.

Nacogdoches, Texas, June 26- S. G. Flowers, 73, and his son, Glenn Flowers, 33, are dead as the result of a double tragedy early today at the home of the older Flowers niece 14 miles from Nacogdoches.

The father was found on the floor with a knife wound in his throat. The son had two bullet wounds in his head. Justice of the Peach rendered a verdict of suicide in each instance.

Two letters left by the senior Flowers said; “You will find $1.40 in my grip. I am ruined and have no home and could not make a living for me and Glenn and cannot bear for him to be left as he does not know how to get along.”

The men came here from Nocona , Texas.

Mrs. Lula Johnson Dies

At her home in Caddo last Friday morning, Mrs. Lula Johnson died of heart trouble, having been ill but a few days. The remains were buried at Caddo Cemetery at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, the funeral being at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. S. Eggner, pastor of the church.

Mrs. Johnson was 69 years of age, had lived in Caddo six years, was a member of the Methodist church.

Deceased was the mother of Mrs. Co. O. Markham. Two other daughters who live in Texas survive.
