Limit Court House Use
The county commissioners at the January meeting made an order limiting the use of the district court room.
The order verbatim is as follows:
"It is hereby ordered that all political parties using the district court room shall first pay to the janitor the sum of $1.00 for each meeting to be held, one-half of the said sum to be retained by the janitor for his services and one-half of said sum to be paid to the county treasurer and appropriated to the supply fund of the county.
And it is further ordered that no political party shall occupy and have the use of said court room during the Sabbath day for any purpose whatsoever.”
The above order was made necessary because of extra janitor hire on week nights, and because the socialists had been using the court room Sunday afternoons for political meetings. The commissioners are to be commended by all people for this effort to prevent public desecrations of the Sabbath day.
