Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Price Killed as Convoy Hits Wagon
Little Patricia Loraine Price, three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Price, who live 5 miles southwest of Caddo, was instantly killed when an automobile convoy truck struck the wagon in which she was riding with her parents near the Blue Bridge last Tuesday at about 6:30pm.
Mrs. Price and a 17-month old daughter were injured, the mother receiving a hip injury, and the baby received a badly bruised leg. Mr. Price was thrown from the wagon to the pavement, but received no injuries.
County officers held the driver of the truck, Claud Winters of Joplin, Mo. blameless, as apparently the team of mules became frightened by another truck on the highway and cut the wagon directly in front of the path of the truck. Winters could not swerve to one side as the wagon had just reached the approach of the bridge with concrete railings.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for little Patricia at the Nazarene church here with Rev. Thorn of Durant officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery.
Surviving Patricia are her parent and her young sister, all of whom were with her at the time of the accident.
