Monday evening will long be remembered in Caddo as the occasion of the Alumni Banquet of Caddo High School.
About a month ago several former graduates of Caddo high School met at the Club House and organized an Alumni Association of this school. Audra Hipp was chosen president and Miss Edith Moore, secretary, treasurer. A committee was appointed to get up something as a reminder, and this banquet was the result.
Eighty plates were laid and there were no vacant places during the evening. W.F. Dodd was the toastmaster for the evening, and his ready wit and grasp of the amenities added much to the pleasure and profit of the evening. Superintendant Shaw, Sam Maytubby and Cortelle Hipp made pleasing responses to toasts.
The Denison orchestra helped out wonderfully in the music. Not the least noticeable feature of the evening was the costumes. The gentlemen all were dressed in overalls and the ladies wore aprons and ginghams. The nineteen graduates this year were guests, and they assured the Association that next year there would be nineteen additional members of the Association.
This is the first Alumni Association ever formed in Caddo, and it is hoped that it will grow from year to year- for there are no friends like the old friends who have shared our morning days; no greetings like their welcome; no homage like their praise. Fame is a scentless sunflower with gaudy colors of gold, but friendship is a bathing rose with sweets in every fold.
