Junior News
Well here we are again, working hard to complete our eleventh year of school. We were all happy with the subjects we were able to enroll in. At the beginning of school the junior class met and elected officers for the coming year. They are: President- Gerald McMichael, Vice-President- Brenda Phipps, Secretary and treasurer- Mike Self, Reporter- Mary Phillips. We also elected Mrs. Wright and Mrs. McMichael as our class mothers. Our sponsors are Mrs. Seago and Mr. Bleer.
The Junior class enjoyed an evening of fun on our social this year. We went to the lodge swimming and afterwards had a wiener roast. We would like to express our thanks to the class mothers for doing such a nice job with our social. We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.
During the last two weeks we have been working very hard to make our Junior play a success. The plays are: “Roughly Speaking” and “This Way to Heaven”. We would also like to thank the poster committee for doing such a nice job with the posters for the plays. We also appreciate the time and effort Mrs. Choate has put forward toward our Junior plays. This is about all the news for this time. See you in next issue.
Miss Brown has Surgery
Miss Alma Brown underwent major surgery recently in the Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. We are pleased to report she was able to return to school on October 18, looking much rested and feeling fine.
During her absence, Mr. Jerry Combrink of Blue High School has been substituting. Mr. Combrink is a full time teacher in the Blue School and was on fall vacation, thus enabling him to be with us.
Speed Certificates Issued
A new feature in Typing II this year has been the issuance of speed certificates to students who have reached certain goals. These goals are set up by the department, and at the present times, are 50 words a minute on seven minute test. Freda Rhodes received the highest honors, as her speed test was perfect typing. Other students who have received these awards are: Bryant Jones, Virginia Boydstun, and Virginia Whisenhunt.
Note: New staff members for 1965 were Mrs. Adkisson- home economics teacher, Mr. Bourne-vocational agriculture teacher, Betty Hyde- secretary, Mr. Phipps- grade school custodian.
