About an hour after posting my entry about the school system I ran across this item from August 31, 1900:
The Caddo High School opens at the Hauer House on Monday, September 3rd. J.J. Scarborough, Principal
The Hamilton School will begin at the Choctaw Court House on Monday, September 3rd. Prof. Joseph G. Hughes, of Bells, Texas, a graduate of the Sam Houston Normal Institute at Huntsville, Texas, will have charge of the higher classes and Mrs. Mae Hamitlon will conduct its primary department.
