$60,000 Worth of New Building
Building activity in Caddo is something to brag on. A trip over town reveals many new houses in course of construction. A total of more than $60,000 worth of work is now going on.
Mr. and Mrs. Olie Smith are building a nice bungalow east of the residence of J. A. Wood.
Amos K. Bass is building a 50x100 ft. warehouse with cement floor, steel roof, and wood sides.
H. G. Huffman has just completed a handsome two story home on Buffalo street east of Amos K. Bass.
Work is about complete on the remodeling of J. H. Franks’ residence.
Frank P. Semple is having extensive additions made to his home just south of town. When completed this well be one of the nicest homes in the county.
The Katy Mill & Elevator Co. has recently made additions to their plant, adding a new bin and engine room.
The Caddo Cotton Oil Co. is building another engine room preparatory to installing another engine with which to pull their gin, the main engine hardly developing power enough for all their requirements.
Scott Powell has started work on his new home across the street south of A. P. Braudrick’s home.
C.C. Semple has begun work on a handsome residence on his Buffalo street lot.
H.T. Chiles is preparing to build a modern home in Bungalow Addition.
The Caddo National Bank is planning extensive improvements to their business property, work having already begun on the foundation. New furniture and fixtures will be installed, the room and vaults enlarged and working conditions made better. They will have more room to accommodate their large and growing business.
H. A. Wilson is repairing and fixing up the Phillips gin, putting in new machinery for the fall business.
Ebb Ingle has about completed his new bungalow west of the old school building.
The Christian church is nearing completion, lacking only finishing touches. This building cost nearly $5,000.
The sewer system is also well under way, and will cost nearly $30,000.
And several blocks of cement sidewalk are being laid in town every week.
