Just got back online today. I have a few bits of news for you and then I'll try to get back to regular postings tomorrow. I hope that those of you who have contacted me about doing research will be patient for a few more days while I get organized again.
The new Dollar General Store is open and seems to have a steady stream of customers. The new Superette is progressing despite some weather problems. The steel frame is up. Several more stores are making changes and I'll try to post those soon. I'll also be making some changes to the Caddo website.
We have a beautiful new Caddo sign on the highway near the Caddo Livestock Auction. We hope it will encourage northbound tourists to stop and visit. We'll try to take photos of it this weekend. Plans are already underway for a sign north of town for all the southbound travelers to see.
Trash Off was a success even though the weather was incredibly cold. Upcoming events will be the Mustang gathering on May 19 and the Nineties dinner in June. Details soon.
TRAC will be working on flower beds this weekend. New photos soon.
I just found your column when I googled my grandfather's name.
He was Guy A. Crossett from Caddo. I was thrilled to see the column and will share it with others of the family.
I have so many memories of Caddo even though I never lived there. I did visit my grandparents for weeks in the summer, though. I go get back there from time to time as my parents, brother, sister, grandparents, greatgrand parents, etc, are all buried there. I love the museum and recently sent them some of the things my Mother had saved.
She owned the Downing Cafe that was in the building at the end of Buffalo nearest the rr tracks. This was in the late 30s and early 40s. How wonderful that our family has not been forgotten there.
