“It looks as if Oklahoma City will fall down on her proposition of giving the state a free capitol building, and the state headquarters will be moved again. Caddo would welcome the capitol, and will make a proposition to the people or the legislature of the state to move it here. We can give a million dollars and a thousand acres of land for it. When the people see what we do in the way of a corn carnival they will be willing to move it to Caddo.”

“Now is the time to begin to boost the Corn Carnival. Tell everybody you see that the big event takes place in August. Paste the dates in your hat, so you won’t forget them.”

“The Caddo Corn Carnival will be held August 23, 24, 25^th and at this time Caddo will expect many visitors. She always has royally entertained her visitors and this will be no exception. The attractions will be worth coming miles to see, and our resources will be taxed to accommodate the visitors, but Caddo is equal to the emergency.”

Edward A. Bohannon

"Born in Blue county, March 1863. The subject of this sketch was the son of Edward Bohannon, who emigrated from Mississippi in 1852. The young man and his two brothers, David and Leonidas, were left under their mother’s charge at an early age, and until 1885 assisted her on the family homestead. Edward made the most of the limited education he was enabled to receive at Durant, but was for several years incapable of active exertion through the effects of three bullet wounds which he received on Christmas night, 1884, at the hands of a man named Callaghan. The shots were fired while young Bohannon was observing the dancers, and the pistol was so close to him that each shot burned his clothing. The severity of his wounds obliged him to adopt the business of book agent and fur trader until 1889, when he was appointed a member of the U.S. Indian Police. Besides this, Edward Bohannon holds the appointment of special peace officer for the town of Caddo, for which he receives an income form the citizens. Since he has become a guardian of the public welfare it is notable that the town has enjoyed absolute freedom from lawlessness and rowdyism."

She had her own business in Murray county and has also been associated locally with Van Meter Realty. Politics and Promises

I guess it's true that history repeats itself. This political ad from 1925 could have been written for last month's election. If candidates have been promising to lower taxes for the past umpteen years, then why are they still so high?

For Town Trustee- Harve Phelps, yielding to the requests of friends who know him best has consented to become a candidate for trustee from Ward 2 in Caddo, in the democratic primary.

Nearly everybody knows Mr. Phelps and knows him to be a clean square man. He has lived in Caddo eight years, is a taxpayer, and was a farmer sixteen years before that. He was always a friend of Caddo.

Mr. Phelps has but one promise to make. If elected he will do the best he can to keep taxes down, to keep the streets and water system in good shape.
