Many people in Caddo walk to town to shop, visit, or get some fresh air and exercise. One of the goals of TRAC’s beautification program is to enhance the entryway into Caddo. The group plans do this by restoring the sidewalks from the first intersection east of the “Welcome to Caddo” archway to the downtown area. The project includes five blocks. In addition to the sidewalks, they plan to place five historic streetlights on each side of the block directly west of downtown, and four historic street lights on each side of the street for the remaining four blocks. This will continue the streetlights already in place in the downtown area. They also plan to light the south side of the welcome archway. At the present time only the north side is lighted. The sidewalks and lights will improve the safety, and appearance of the main entryway into Caddo. The streetlights in front of the Caddo Community Building will improve the safety of those using the building for family reunions, programs, and civic events. These photos are a look at the “before” and a “glimpse” of what the future might look like. (This new section was put in by a homeowner.)
