Nine members of TRAC’s “Beautification and Preservation” committee gathered in downtown Caddo today for the first “Clean Sweep Sunday”. They spent almost two hours sweeping up leaves and trash that had collected on the south side of the street. The group plans to meet on the first Sunday of each month to sweep, pick up trash, and maintain flower beds. Anyone is welcome to join in and help keep Caddo beautiful!
TRAC and CCA are both seeking information about early downtown Caddo businesses. We need information about the buildings in order to apply for historical recognition. We also want to continue to place plaques on the buildings to identify them for visitors.
Hal Nesbitt, owner of the REX II is seeking photos of the original REX Theater. He’d also like to have photos of his mother’s café, The Little Dixie.
The Alumni Association is constantly updating its mailing lists and would appreciate new information from any alumni who have moved in the past two years.
The CCA is planning the next Heritage Day celebration and is seeking information from food and craft vendors who would be interested in joining us on October 7th .
If you have any information about Caddo or would like to contribute photos for our history projects, please email me or leave a comment below.
