Monday, January 23rd the Caddo Community Association and the Caddo Masonic Lodge co-hosted a benefit for the Caddo Volunteer Fire Department. A large crowd gathered in the Boland Park Community Building to show their appreciation for the brave men who have put so much time and effort into protecting their community in recent months. The students of Caddo Elementary School made a wonderful banner for the firemen. Local merchant Belinda Davison provided a lovely centerpiece for the podium. Men and women from the community donated lots of refreshments as well as items for the auction.
Fire Chief Todd Miller spoke to the crowd and introduced several local volunteer firemen. He said it was the type of evening that “makes you proud to live in Caddo”. Auctioneer Quentin Adair entertained the crowd by encouraging some lively bidding on pies, cakes and other goodies. Seventy-two items were donated for the auction. Highest bid of the night-$315-was made by Glen Mar Ranch for a coconut cake baked by CCA chairman Kathy Meadows. At the end of the evening a total of $14,800 had been raised for the fire department.
If you were unable to attend the event you may still make a donation directly to the fire department or to Shamrock Bank in Caddo. Fire chief Todd Miller may be contacted at 580-367-9811.
